Ingerid Annette Saxe – trombones
Based in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Member of the Danish Radio Big Band since 2000.
First woman to hold a chair in the band. Still the only one.
Classically trained, Saxe holds a diploma in trombone and orchestra playing from the Royal Academy of Music (Aarhus), and a conductors exam from the Royal Danish Academy of Music (Copenhagen).
At the age of 16, Saxe met and played for the trombone world star Michel Becquet for the first time. Becqets extremely elegant and sonourus playing made a huge impact on the young musician, still to be heard today.
Another milestone was laid 6 years later when Saxe had the opportunity to travel to Chicago and take lessons with Arnold Jacobs, the biggest brass legend of her time.
In addition to 25 years as a steady member of the DRBB, Saxe’s professional background includes two years with the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra and one year with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra. Doubling on tenor and bass trombone in all of them.
